Meet the Curator of this Little Museum
Greetings! My name is Robert W. Tompkins. You can call me Bob.
I worked for most of my adult life at a heavy equipment manufacturing plant in upstate New York. For five of those years, I was also the lay pastor of a small fellowship of United Methodists. But the theology I came to embrace was not the relative liberalism of that denomination, but rather the Reformed faith as expressed by Calvin, Luther, Augustine, Paul, and ultimately Jesus Himself. That is to say, I believe in a powerful, active, and sovereign God.
Somewhere along the way, I also wrote a couple of fantasy novels; you can find information about them here. That work is still not quite finished, but in the meantime, I also wrote a couple of very short non-fiction books, notably Disease and Faith, which you can find here.
The theology on these Bible Cards is not very deep; after all, they were created for children. But, as Jesus said, "[U]nless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:3b NKJV), and also, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 19:14 NKJV). Of course, the Apostle Paul also said, "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things" (1 Corinthians 13:11 NKJV). I'm still trying to work out the balance of that in my life.
My prayer for this site is that you would have your curiosity piqued by the Scriptures, and not that you would lose control of your sanity by staring blankly at card after card showing bearded men in robes. May the Holy Spirit testify to you of Jesus as you glance through these pages.
